Responsibilities & Training
The paramedic staffed team is equipped to handle all medical emergencies from cut fingers to cardiac arrest. All Grandview Heights Fire Medics are trained in:
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support
- Trauma Life Support
- Pediatric Life Support
- Other continuing education topics
Medic
The Medic is equipped with a:
- Cardiac monitor/defibrillator/pacemaker that transmits EKG's to emergency room physicians.
- Special equipment kits for airway problems, medications, pediatric patients and trauma
Procedures
Procedures done by the Fire Medics are guided by a symptom-based medical protocol. The medical protocol was written by the Division's Medical Director, Dr. Alan Gora, a board-certified emergency physician at Mount Carmel Hospital.
