Wallace Garden Plot

The gardens at the southwest corner of Grandview Avenue and Goodale Boulevard offer residents of Grandview Heights and Marble Cliff a place to bend and dig just as they did when Victory Gardens were a parotic war effort, not just a hobby. Many Grandview Heights/Marble Cliff residents currently stake claim to quarter plots, half plots, and full plots in the approximately 65,000 sq. ft. expanse of City-owned property called the Wallace Gardens. Wallace Gardens sits on land that was donated to the City by photographer, Columbus Bicycle Co. owner and real estate developer George Urlin in the 1930s. Mr. Urlin purchased the land now called "Wallace Gardens" and also coined the term "Grand view" for a view from his mansion on Goodale Boulevard where the Summit Chase Condos now stands according to the Grandview Heights/Marble Cliff Historical Society.
